Doug Monroe is a fifth-generation Atlantan who has been a reporter, editor and columnist with United Press International, the Atlanta Journal- Constitution, Creative Loafing, and Atlanta Magazine. Currently, Doug is a contributing writer at Atlanta Magazine, where he writes the "Peachtree Screed" blog. He's also part of a country songwriting team with his daughter, Caroline, and Fester Hagood of Athens, Ga. Doug has been an IBM speechwriter, vice president of a public relations agency, a TV director, and a college teacher. Doug has won national, regional, and state awards for his writing.
